Intro to Philosophy

Hi this is a new group. A new convenor is required for this group

Some people find the idea of Philosophy rather intimidating however, if you identify specify issues, it some times becomes clear that everyone has views on the subject and can contribute from their own experience. One topic was the ‘Brain and Mind’. Philosophers have taken different views on this. One is that individuals are composed of two things, a physical body and a spiritual element which some might describe as our ‘spirit’ or ‘soul’. Others have argued that there is only one a physical body, including the brain, and terms such as ‘mind’ ‘spirit’ and ‘soul’ are fictions. This has important implications for the way we think of life. For example , do all religions presume belief in a spirit world?
Do you believe that something survives your physical death? Even if you are not religious, can you think of the mind as something separate from the body?
