Social Change Through Time
Social Change can be studied at the individual, group, and societal level. So far we have looked at how children's toys and fashions have changed over our lifetimes (an individual perspective). We are going on to look at how attitudes to various minority groups have changed during our lifetimes. When we get brave enough, we will try to work out how and why whole societies change over time.
Whichever perspective we take we try to get beyond simply describing what has changed to examining the reasons for the change. In this way, wider political, economic and even religious issues come into play.
This isn't as heavy as it sounds. We discuss in small groups so everyone gets a chance to speak. We laugh a lot and we get through a mountain of biscuits.
