Welcome

ASHTEAD UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE

CHAIRMANS MESSAGE

Are you retired, or no longer in full-time employment?
Would you like an opportunity to meet like-minded people, to pursue your interests and to take up new ones?
Ashtead U3A could be what you are looking for.

We are not a University in the traditional sense. We do not study for qualifications. We learn together and from each other. The ‘Third Age’ is described as the time after finishing full time employment or raising a family. It allows retired and semi retired people to come together and develop their interests. There are more than 950 U3A’s in the UK.
Ashtead U3A is part of a national and international movement of older people who wish to keep their minds active and share their lifetime of experiences and knowledge. We were founded in 2006 and have grown into a thriving organisation with over 600 members.

We are a lively and friendly group offering a wide range of creative, study, physical and leisure activities. U3A is a great way to meet like-minded people, deepen and extend one’s interests and make new friends. All our activities are organised and run by members who freely give their time, experience and expertise.
Our study and activity groups cover a wide range of subjects including the arts, languages, science, music and current affairs. There are over 70 groups operating at any one time so everyone should find things to suit their interests.

We hold sociable monthly meetings with an outside speaker, normally on the first Thursday afternoon of the month, at the Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall and organise a varied programme of social activities and visits.

Study Days on a variety of subjects are organised by the Surrey U3A Network and are mostly held at the Menuhin Hall in Stoke d'Abernon, about 8 times per year.
Our annual Membership Fee is currently £12.
