Music Ensemble
The eight members of the Ensemble between them offer a great variety of instruments: accordion, violin, flute, saxophone, tenor recorder, two descant recorders, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, two mandolins, ukulele, keyboard and a number of percussion instruments.
We like to play easy- on- the- ear music such as Neapolitan songs, French waltzes, tangos, English shanties, Scottish songs.
When the leader plays the descant recorder instead of the accordion, and the guitars are exchanged for mandolins, we have in fact a perfect Baroque Ensemble. So music by Purcell and Handel is also part of our repertoire.
During the few years we have been together we have given concerts in Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, in St George’s Church, Ashtead, at Denbies, Dorking, in the Community Centre, West Ewell, and in local residential homes.
Despite our various instruments and various degrees of technical skill, we all agree that making music together is a totally uplifting and exhilarating experience.
