April 2019 Talk:
JORDAN, A WALK THROUGH HISTORY
This mapped out a visit to Jordan, many photographs of stunning places which illustrated the history of Jordan. How the Greeks, Romans, Muslims and Nabataeans left their mark in settlements and stunning buildings across the land. Visit to Mount Nebo, brought in connections with Moses and religious places which are of import to the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions. The magnificent Wadi Rum desert used in many films and connections with Lawrence of Arabia.
Example Report of One of Our Speakers:
Dennis Turner 'The greenwood man' demonstrated the versatility and beauty of his craft to an appreciative audience. A skill and interest that surfaced in later life for him, he was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his subject. Using wood that hasn't been seasoned, the members were able to view samples he had brought with him and they heard about the tools and methods used in days gone by to produce them.
