The group meets once a month, normally on the 2nd Thursday afternoon of the month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Since lockdown in March 2020 we have been having our meetings on Zoom and this suits what we do during our meetings very well, so we shall probably continue to use Zoom most of the time. However, we are intending to have a proper get-together in May 2022.
Our monthly meetings generally consist of members reporting on their latest discoveries and/or asking for help in advancing with their searches. Sometimes we have a talk on a specific subject. Using Zoom everyone is able to share their screen with everyone else to show something of interest.
We have had 2 very successful exhibitions in the past few years, Our Ancestors in World War I to coincide with the centenary of the end of that War, and then we put together Our Ancestors in World War II which should have taken place in May 2020 to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day. But because of lockdowns we were only able to put this exhibition in place in November 2021.
In addition to our normal monthly meetings we sometimes have DNA workshops on the 4th Thursday of the month.
