Please note: we have moved premises. We no longer meet at Mayfield Memorial Hall.
Our meeting on 10th October 2019 is a one-off. It will be held at a temporary site which has limited space so is for established members of the Current Affairs group only, all of whom have been advised separately.
With effect from 14th November 2019 we shall return to our old home, now beautifully renovated, Mayfield Church Rooms (DE6 2JR) 200 yards east of the church.
We meet on the second Thursday of the month soon after 10am for coffee & biscuits and start the meeting at 10.30, finishing at 12 o'clock.
The object is to have an informed discussion on a topic that is of current interest, so that we can learn from an exchange of views. So far we have found this both informative and enjoyable. A volunteer prepares a subject and presents it for about 15 to 20 minutes before a general discussion.
Examples of subjects recently discussed include: universities, the crisis in the Middle East, universities, artificial intelligence, antisemitism.
Our average attendance has risen to 20. New faces, challenging arguments, unconventional opinions - all these are welcome.

|Thu Nov 14th||On the sixth anniversary of the founding of the Current Affairs group we will meet at Mayfield Church Rooms, just reopened after a transforming renovation. Details of what we will talk about then are not yet known - after all, we examine and discuss CURRENT subjects and who knows what will be happening then?|
