During the social distancing era we continue to meet on the second Thursday of the month soon after 10am for informal chats and start the meeting at 10.30, finishing at 12 o'clock .............but we do so via Zoom. But we won't have a meeting in August 2020 - next one 10th September.

The object is to have an informed discussion on a topic that is of current interest, so that we can learn from an exchange of views. So far we have found this both informative and enjoyable. A volunteer prepares a subject and presents it before a general discussion.

Examples of subjects recently discussed include: "Agriculture in the Peak District", "The likely economic effects of the pandemic" and "Food safety standards".

Our average attendance has remained steady at around 20 despite the change to meetings by video conference.

New faces, challenging arguments, unconventional opinions - all these are welcome.
