This group offers writers of all kinds the opportunity to practise their skills in whatever way they choose. Life experiences, short stories, articles, essays and poems have all featured in members’ contributions. Some examples of previous themes were 'What Would I do if I Met a Martian on the Street?' 'A Room with a View', 'An Unexpected Consequence', 'My Soapbox', 'Tracks of my Life', 'A Fantasy', 'My Manifesto'. However, if the chosen theme fails to please, any member can write a piece on any other subject of their choice. It's not a problem.
During the pandemic I have emailed a theme to all the members with a deadline of about two weeks hence and each group member emails their various writings to me. I collate all the contributions onto one email and send it out to each member. When we return to normality we will once again meet face to face and each member will read out their individual contributions.
If you would like to give our group a try, just email me via the blue envelope on the Creative Writing Group page of the Ashbourne u3a website and you will be made welcome.
