This group is intended for those interested in watercolour and/or acrylic painting and is designed for those with little or no experience in either, though those with more experience may choose to join in, as and when desired, and work on their own projects but enjoy the group's company. The course will begin with watercolour.

Watercolour techniques covered will include: tonal values, wet in wet, wet on dry, wax resist, masking out, splattering, dry brush, salt, lifting out, negative painting, scratching out, aerial perspective and watercolour pencils. There will be up to 28 projects that will involve landscapes, flowers, fruit and animals. Following on from this participants will be encouraged to work from their own photos or transitional projects provided by the tutor.

The acrylic course involves 12 projects experimenting on different surfaces eg: paper, mount board, MDF and canvas. The techniques covered will include gesso, scumbling, stippling, splattering, palette knife, impasto, roller, textured effects, and different mediums.

We meet on Tuesdays from 2 - 4 pm at the Waterside Centre
