If you intend to go to the NMA and have not yet told me, please can you let me know whether you would like a lift or can offer seats in your car. The site is level and walking is easy on made paths. Mobility scooters are available for a charge of £5 and wheelchairs are free, although they expect a donation. There is also a land train which tours the site. Scooters should be booked individually in advance. Details are available on the NMA website at www.thenma.org.uk. If you have not been before please be assured that it is well worth a visit.

If you have never been cycling in this area, the title 'Pits Trail' may give the impression of a disused industrial landscape. But not so. The land has been reclaimed with care, and it is a lovely area to cycle through. Lunch at a local café (basic food), or bring a packed lunch. 21 miles
