Arun Valley

Welcome

u3a is a national organisation which was set up in the UK by three recently retired friends in 1982 as an informal learning and social co-operative for older people. u3a enables members to share many educational, creative and leisure activities, organised mainly in small groups that meet regularly, often in each others' homes. Members, through sharing their knowledge, skills and experience, learn from each other.

If you are retired or semi-retired and would like to keep your mind and your social life active we would be delighted to welcome you to the Arun Valley u3a. Our membership stands at about 150 people who mostly live in and around Petworth, Fittleworth, Pulborough, Storrington, West Chiltington and Billingshurst.

By meeting in each others' homes we are able to keep the annual membership fee down to only £10 per person with a 20p contribution per meeting to our hosts who provide tea, coffee and biscuits. For groups which prefer a larger venue we surcharge each group member to offset their group's hall hire costs.

To see details of our current groups please click on "Groups" from the main menu. Clicking on a Group name will display some further information. In addition to our interest groups we organise meetings and events for the whole membership, including our Christmas Lunch, our annual Strawberry Tea in the summer, and Quarterly General Meetings, including the Annual General Meeting, where we engage an interesting speaker.

We are always pleased to welcome new members. If you would like to join our group, please register your interest using the form at the foot of our Contacts page. You might like to include your phone number too, so that one of our members can telephone you and arrange for someone to go with you to your first meeting, if that is what you would prefer.

For details of our Constitution and Privacy Statement please select the links on the right hand side of this page.

If you would like to speak to one of our Arun Valley u3a members, whether you are already a member who has perhaps lost contact details of members of your group, or you are someone who would like to join us, please do get in touch via the General Enquiries button on the Contacts page.
