Coordinators: Hilary Storey and Dorothy Marsh
This group organises visits to the theatre, concerts, ballets and operas, travelling to the venue and back by coach. We often attend evening performances with the coach leaving at around 12 noon to allow members to spend the afternoon as they wish in the area of the theatre venue.
We advertise our events via email as the theatres have only agreed to hold the tickets for us for a few short weeks. Contact Hilary to get on the email list or, if you don't use email, ask a friend to receive information for you.
We had a most successful theatre outing in October 2019 to see “The Buddy Holly Story” at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool. The show (for all ages) chronicled the meteoric rise and all too brief career of the rock and roll legend Buddy Holly and his band The Crickets. The performances and talent in the cast were fantastic, Buddy was so believable as were Ritchie Valens and Big Bopper. We found ourselves singing and clapping along to the songs and by the end of the show a few of the audience were up dancing.
Our next trip, on 30th April 2020 takes us to Manchester to see “The Phantom of the Opera” at the Palace Theatre. Should any members require further information on this they should contact the Group Coordinators detailed above.
As always, we welcome suggestions for further visits.
