Ambleside & District

Joining in: members and groups

Ambleside and District u3a encourages you to take part in as many of our groups as you wish and in helping run our activities. We all have areas of expertise to share and things we would like to learn about in the company of like-minded people.

The General Meeting is where you can meet other members, find out what is happening in our branch and in the wider U3A, and hear interesting speakers on a wide range of topics. See the Events page or the newsletter for details.

Perhaps you have an interest you would like to share which does not already have a formal group. If so you might like to help start a new group. Approach a committee member or write a paragraph for the newsletter and the web site to get in touch with others who may be interested. The size of the group is not as important as the interest and enthusiasm of its membership.

Becoming a committee member is another way that you can take an active role.

Finally if the above suggestions sound too grandiose for you there are lots of little ways you can help, such as with tea and biscuits at meetings, setting out tables and chairs, delivering newsletters occasionally or making suggestions for future items that you would like to see in group programmes.

Don't wait; if you are willing and able to help approach a committee member or group coordinator and say so.
