ALTON U3A SUBSCRIPTION
At the AGM held in June, 2017 which some 120 members attended, a Resolution to introduce a FOUR tier pricing structure for Subscriptions was carried and was subsequently introduced commencing with the 2017-18 Registration.
The NEW 'BLUE BOOK' was circulated to all members on the 2016-17 data base.
Included with it was an Application Form which carried detailed instructions as to how to join either the GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE or RED categories. The Subscription you pay will be decided by which ever category you choose!
If you sign up for one or more GOLD activities you will pay the highest subscription but that will entitle you to attend as many activities as you want in any of the four bands.
If you do not sign up for any GOLD activities, but sign up for one or more in the SILVER category you can attend all the activities we run except those in the GOLD category.
Those who sign up for BRONZE can attend any activities in the BRONZE or RED categories.
Those who sign up for RED alone can attend as many activities in that category as they want.
WHAT ARE THE AGREED CHARGES?
It is proposed that Associate Members (those already belonging to another U3A) will pay £51.50, £41.50, £31.50 or £16.50 depending upon which band they sign for.
Which activities are in which band?
GOLD: BRIDGE CLUB , U3A CHOIR, RECORDERS & SCOTTISH DANCING.
SILVER: CREATIVE WRITING, CURRENT AFFAIRS, FRENCH IMPROVERS, FRIENDLY DUPLICATE, PAINTING, PLAY READING & SCOTTISH DANCE WORKSHOP.

Below are answers to queries that members may have:
1. How will I know which band my chosen activities are in?
They will be detailed on the website and on the notice board and in the new Blue Book
2. Can I choose my courses and pay my subscription in advance of registration Day?
Yes, as long as you pay the subscription appropriate to the activities you have signed up for this will be possible, as has been the case in the past.
3. What happens if I pay for a course in a more expensive group but cannot get on it because it is full or doesn’t run?
You will be refunded the appropriate amount you have in effect overpaid.
4. What happens if I want to upgrade to a more expensive band after I have paid my initial subscription?
You can do this by paying the appropriate extra amount. So for example, if you want to upgrade from Silver to Gold you will need to pay an additional £10 (or £5 from 1 January onwards).
5. Will my membership card make reference to the band I am in?
Yes, there will be an appropriately coloured sticker signifying which band you are in on your membership card.
6. Just to be clear. If I pay the Gold band subscription but also attend activities in other categories, I only pay the one fee?
That is correct. And the same applies to Silver and Bronze. The only limitation is that you are not eligible to attend courses in the bands that cost more to join than the one you have signed up for.
