Hi, My name is Karen Potts and I am involved with the Artistic crafts group, held on Monday mornings at the Old People's club, Abergele in conjunction with the Art Group. I have always been interested in crafts and creating and felt very privileged to be asked to run the group.

The subjects and crafts that we have a go at are very diverse, from knitting, hand sewing small projects, felt making with all the opportunities that entails, paper crafting in all its elements and many more. I have plans to do marbling, bead crafting and gift box making, to be honest the list could be endless, its all so enjoyable.

I do not profess to be an expert in anyway but the knowledge I have gained over the many years of crafting has enabled me to pass on the best ways of doing certain aspects and also open up the huge range of possibilities and materials that are available.

All of the current members are really enjoying the new creative challenges that they have come across so far and I enjoy seeing them achieve and make things with materials they were previously unaware of. I personally love teaching, so together we all now really enjoy Monday Mornings!

2018

We have had a lot enjoyment doing individual projects but it was decided that we would do something all together. We came up with doing the cloth dolls and Oh! what fun we had! The pattern came from a book of cloth dolls and they all started the same but all ended up totally different, depending on the choice of clothes or costumes. All different types of materials were used for both the clothes and the hair and accessories. All turned out with individual personalities. Thanks girls for taking on this fun project with turning out some amazing work. We are now doing another project together and again all turning out differently. Watch this space! Karen Potts

The girls who enjoyed themselves so much creating the dolls were Ruth, Margaret, Caryl, Greta, Gilly, Linda and Karen.

November 2015

In November Art 3 enjoyed a master class in Pastel Painting from local artist Keith Hall, a well known landscape artist and pastel painter.

Although we did not quite complete our paintings within the time allotted, valuable lessons were learned in composition, aerial perspective, counter change and negative space, just to name a few. We can always complete our paintings in our own Monday morning Art Workshop.

A midday buffet was provided by the group and enjoyed by all. This gave us a welcome break and we were able to enjoy looking at each others paintings, which, although they were of the same subject, were all so very different in style.
