Opera Appreciation

The Group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2.00 p.m. when we discuss composers, singers and view DVDs.

We decide on a theme, e.g. Verdi & Shakespeare, French composers, baritone leads etc., which we follow until our mood changes.

August will be our annual "Let's Pretend it is Glyndebourne" celebration. An earlier time of 1.30 to accommodate members' lunching and listening to their choice of operatic CD. Pudding and booze/soft drink will be provided.

Our September viewing will be Glyndebourne's new production of Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia"guided by star soprano (and Lady Christie) Danielle De Niese.

In October, we shall link between Manuela Hoelterhoff's delightful book highlighting back-stage scenes at The Met and the DVD of James Levine's 25th Anniversary Gala Concert.
