English Literature

King Lear is a play which questions just about everything: authority, justice, suffering, madness, belief in a benign god... the list goes on. For me it is the play that faces what it is to be human in the most unflinching way. Strong stuff for a Tuesday noon. It was the first play I had to teach in the mid-sixties. It got me then and it is still getting me now.
Next session - Tuesday 20th November at 11.30
New members always very welcome. It doesn't matter if you haven't been before; each session is pretty well discrete.
