Book Group 2nd Friday History

Here you can read about Book group activities in previous years

We had another enlightening author visit in 2018 from Lexie Conyngham. We discussed her book A Knife in Darkness, the first in a series of detective novels set in Ballater. She also gave a very interesting insight into the process of writing and in particular crime fiction.

Session 2016 - 2017 was an eventful one for Book Group 2nd Friday. We changed our venue from the Northern Arts Club to the Central Library which has been a very successful move. We also had a visit from local author Isabel Jackson who told us about the very interesting lives of her grandparents. Michael Steele gave a an entertaining presentation on another local author, but from a previous generation, Lorna Moon.

In June 2014 we had a most enjoyable afternoon being entertained by Kemnay author and forester Alan Crawford. He talked with passion about his life experiences with people, nature, trees, and of his book 'Whispering Woods: tales from the Caledonian Forest'. He also brought with him some wooden bowls containing items gathered in woods-works of art in themselves some of us thought!
