History

At our January meeting, we watched a video about life in Winter on a Tudor farm - that was before our own cold snap!
In February, on a related theme, we looked at the early history of food and drink, in civilizations such as those of Ancient Egypt and Mycenaean Greece, and afterwards compared the farming methods and diet with those in this country around the year 1000 A.D. They were surprisingly similar - most of the big changes came later. We also looked at the staples of our modern diet that came from the Americas; potatoes, sweet corn, tomatoes, and, of course, chocolate!
