Welcome to our U3A
Welcome to the website for Windsor and District U3A: fairly new, but a growing AND wonderful branch of the national organisation.
Windsor
We think Windsor is a great town with the oldest inhabited castle in the country, the mighty Thames river, wonderful green spaces including Windsor Great Park.
The University of the Third Age
The U3A is a learning organisation made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired from paid employment, and wish to use some of their leisure time to acquire new skills and help others do the same. There are over 760 U3As and over 245,000 members within the UK - to find out more about the history and ethos of the U3A, the Third Age Trust website can be accessed (see link below)
Windsor and District U3A
This is a new branch formed in 2008 and already has over 200 members from a wide area around Windsor, including Slough, Eton, Iver and Ascot - essentially as far as one wishes to travel. Our main activities centre on the subject groups. Some information about those which are currently running can be found on the Groups page. We have regular monthly general meetings on the second Wednesday of each month - guests and prospective members are very welcome. Do see the Events page for details of future meetings
How to Join
Our full annual membership fee is £12 pounds - which entitles attendance to as many Group activities as you wish (space permitting - see Groups page). If you would like more information, see the Contact page for ways to get in touch - we look forward to hearing from you.
The business of running our U3A
A link below takes you to the "Committee & AGM information" page with 'business' details (committee members and office holders), dates of committee meetings and AGM, constitution etc.
Neighbouring U3As
There are active U3As in many areas around Windsor including Beaconsfield, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Runnymede, Spelthorne and Wokingham. The Third Age Trust website allows one to find any U3A based on post code, county, town etc. and the Harrow site has links to U3As worldwide.
