Welcome to Howden & District U3A
About the U3A
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a national organisation which has developed a network of local associations providing social, cultural and learning opportunities for retired and semi-retired people at minimal cost.
Activities are run by and for members, who share their interests and skills in a friendly and informal environment, often in members' own homes.
There are no obstacles to joining the U3A. All you need is spare time to learn and share social and cultural opportunties with like-minded people.
For more information on the national organisation please visit the LINKS page.
Howden & District U3A
Howden & District U3A was formed in November 2008 and is growing rapidly. Serving the area of Howdenshire, Goole and Marshlands, there are currently over 140 members.
Activities include a monthly meeting with a speaker on a topic of general interest and a growing number of interest groups. New groups are formed when there are sufficient members with a mutual interest and when a volunteer co-ordinator can be found.
For more information on the monthly meetings please visit the EVENTS page. A list of current interest groups can be found on the GROUPS page.
What does it cost?
Membership of Howden & District U3A provides access to eleven monthly meetings per year, unlimited interest groups, special events, a monthly newsletter and 4 issues of U3A News magazine delivered to members' homes.
There is an annual membership fee of £15 with full members of other U3A associations paying a reduced fee of £9.
