Welcome to our Website
U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment, providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.
The Worksop and District U3A was formed in the latter part of 2009 and membership is growing. We currently have 200 members.
We meeting on 10th August, 2 pm will be at The Crossing, Newcastle Street, Worksop. The meeting usually lasts for 2 hours with a break for refreshments and socialising.
As from Thursday 16th September 2010, the General Meetings will be held at St Anne's Church Hall, Harrington Street off Newcastle Avenue, Worksop S809 1NQ at 2 pm on the third Thursday of each month. (Please see Events for more details).
Membership of the Worksop and District U3A can be obtained either at our monthly general meetings or by contacting our Membership Secretary, by emailing through the Contacts page. An application form will then be sent to you upon receipt of a SAE. Please send your completed application form and cheque for £16 made payable to Worksop and District U3A. If you belong to another U3A Group, the cost will be £13.50. Our Financial year runs from November - October.
Members receive a free copy of the quarterly Third Age Trust Magazine (U3A News) and a copy of our bi-monthly newsletter listing all news and future activities is forwarded by e-mail. For those without an e-mail address, a copy can be purchased at the monthly General Meeting.
Currently we have 18 Groups ranging from Art Appreciation & History to Tai Chi. Each Group is self organised and new members are welcome to join an existing group. If you have a particular interest and there is no group currently running, please do not hesitate in getting a group started! Committee members will be available to give you as much guidance and help that is necessary to help any new group up and running.
