Welcome
Welcome to the web-site for Caterham and District U3A: a small enthusiastic branch of the national organisation.
The University of the Third Age
The U3A is a learning organisation made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired from paid employment, and wish to use some of their leisure time to acquire new skills and help others do the same. To find out more about the history and ethos of the U3A, follow this link to the website for the Third Age Trust.
Caterham U3A
Our local branch has over 100 members from a widespread area around Caterham, including Warlingham, Oxted, Chaldon, Coulsdon, Selsdon, and Lingfield (see map). Our main activities centre on the subject groups. Some information about those which are currently running can be found on the Groups page. We do not have regular monthly general meetings, but there are occasional talks, outings, and social events throughout the year, to which guests may be invited. See the Events page for details.
How to Join
Our annual membership fee is £10 which covers all the groups which you may wish to join. The cost for group meetings is variable: from 20p for a cup of tea to £5 for the hire of a hall or other expense. If you are interested in joining please use the Contact page to get in touch with the Membership Secretary by telephone or e-mail. We look forward to hearing from you.
