Events

Intro
As well as group meetings, we have other events for members. This page has more about these other events, some are monthly and some less often.

Speaker Meetings
Usually on the third Friday of the month, the speakers cover a wide range of topics. Upcoming meetings:

19th April 2024 A Perfect Place to Live by Ned Williams

17th May 2024 The Rise, Fall and Renaissance of the Bandstand by Sue Ash

21st June 2024 The World of TV Game Shows by Roger Edwards

19th July 2024 Hitting the Headlines by John Butterworth

Coffee and tea are served from 10.00am, when there is a chance to socialise. The speaker starts at 11am, usually for 45 minutes or so. There is a charge of £1.00 for the meeting, which includes tea or coffee.

Coffee Mornings
These popular events are on the 4th Friday of the month from 10am to 12noon at Kingswinford Community Centre. As well as having a cup of tea or coffee, they offer a chance to:

  • meet other members in a relaxed, informal setting and get the latest news;
  • find out more about groups you might be interested in;
  • book trips and other activities.

You can drop-in for as long or as short a time as you wish. The usual meeting charge of £1 applies.

The April coffee morning usually includes the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of members.

Day Trips for 2024

Wednesday 1st May – Charlecote House and Stratford. The morning will be is spent at Charlecote House, before moving to Stratford at lunchtime where you can go on a short guided walk (free) or just look around yourself.
Tickets go on sale at the March Coffee Morning – £16.50 for National Trust Members and £30.00 for non-National Trust members.

Wednesday 3rd July – Llandudno to do as you please. Tickets go on sale at the May Coffee Morning – £20.00

Tuesday 30th July – Salford Quays. Tickets go on sale at the June Coffee Morning – more details when we have them.

Wednesday 4th September – Bletchley Park

Thursday 31st October – Elan Valley and Gigram Farm (for Red Kites)

Social Events
Members organise a range of activities including concerts, trips and social evenings at various times during the year – for more info go to the Social Events page

Keeping in Touch
This website is now one of our main channels of communication. Also, we produce a Newsletter every two months, which is available on the News page and in printed form at the Community Centre.

We also use Speaker Meetings, Coffee Mornings and the Notice Board to keep members informed.
