Membership Matters

Introduction

Membership of Edinburgh u3a is open to anyone who is in their “third age” and no longer in full time employment. There is no lower age limit for membership and people who are working part time may join.

To take part in any Edinburgh u3a activity you must be a member. Members can join any group where vacancies exist. There is no limit to the number of groups that a member may join. There are groups who meet on-line. See On-Line Groups page for details. We rely on members volunteering to help form and lead interest groups. Members are encouraged to form their own groups where none exists or where there are no vacancies in existing groups. For further information and help simply email any Groups Coordinator whose addresses are within the List of Committee members.

You can find further information about the committee and how to contact it on the Contacts page.

Joining Fees

The Membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March. Membership renewal forms are sent out in March.

The membership subscription is:-
• Single £10
• Two people at the same address £20.

New members pay the full fee if they join between 1st April and 30th September. A member joining after 1st October pays a reduced joining fee of £5 for a single person and £10 for two people at the same address'. Your fees revert to the full amount from the following April.

If you join from February onwards, the full fee is payable, but your membership will start immediately and run for the next session.

If you would like to join, please refer to the How to Join Edinburgh u3a page where there are instructions on how to join online. If you cannot join online, please contact the Secretary via email, membership@edinburghu3a.org.uk.

Please help Edinburgh u3a keep the Membership Fee low by completing the Gift Aid Declaration when you apply for membership. Edinburgh u3a will reclaim, from HMRC, 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you pay in membership fees in the current tax year.

Please note that the Third Age Trust offer the opportunity to register with Trust u3a - details can be found here.
