Crafts 2
You must be a Member of Ealing u3a to take part in an Interest Group
Crafts Group 2
The aim of the group is to meet to increase our enjoyment, knowledge and skills of crafts together. We meet in a home so are limited to about 10 members. Do get in touch if you might like to join us. We can always start a Crafts 3 if we get a lot more interest.
We usually meet in the morning of the 4th Monday in the month, 10am - 12 noon (not Aug or Dec); sometimes this is moved to another Monday. We meet in the Elthorne Park area. We have occasionally had outings, e.g. Sunbury Embroidery gallery.
Group members share leading activities and topics are adjusted depending on members’ interests.
Crafts we have tried have included: lavender wands, felt brooches, knitting, crochet, hammered flower greeting cards, paper beads, Suffolk Puffs and Iris paper folding.
In October ’22, we had a visiting member of Ealing U3A who came and gave us an interesting talk and demonstration the art of Tatting, lace making with knots, using a shuttle.
We discuss and encourage each other in our individual projects and sometimes have a joint project. One joint project was to make some twiddlemitts for people in Ealing who are in the later stages of dementia. We used this to learn/improve our knitting and then our crochet skills.
