This Group started in 2013. Each month we visit a different church where we are given a tour by a experienced guide focussing on the history and architecture; after which the guide will answer any questions we may have. The visit will include refreshments, usually provided by the church staff or occasionally at a local pub/café. This gives us an opportunity to discuss the visit and exchange views over a refreshing drink. There is no limit on the number of members but do let the Group Leader know if you will be attending. There is usually a collection of £2.50 per person to cover any church heating and refreshments.
We take a short break in December and January (due to seasonal activities and lack of church heating!) and we start again in February.
This year we have visited:
The Orthodox Monastery of St John the Baptist, Tolleshunt Knights;
St Mary the Virgin, Ardleigh;
St John the Baptist, Thaxted;
formerly All Saints Church, Rectory Road, Tolleshunt Knights,
St Mary's Church, Stoke-by-Nayland;
St Edmund Kind & Martyr, Tendring;
St Andrew's Church, Halstead;
St Thomas' Church, Bradwell-on-Sea and The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall, Bradwell-on-Sea;
St Mary the Virgin, Gestingthorpe;
Methodist Church, Manningtree
Lifts can usually be arranged.
