Welcome to Hounslow U3A
We are a local organisation for retired or semi-retired people who want to meet together for learning and leisure activities. We pride ourselves on being a very friendly and welcoming U3A.
During the months of lockdown and restrictions on meetings, our members were busy establishing new ways to continue their activities in order to stay in touch, learn and have some fun! Now that we have returned to 'normal' we still having the option of using Zoom, if needed. Our programme for the next few months can be seen by using the ‘Events‘ button above. Our aim is to provide a varied, informative, entertaining and stimulating programme for our members.
Our Groups decide for themselves how they wish to meet. Some are meeting in members' homes; others get together in cafes and meeting rooms. We are working to establish a presence on social media, with a public page to spread the word about what we do. If you use Facebook, search for Hounslow u3a and you’ll find us. We are looking for someone who is good at social media to oversee this for us. Maybe a new member will have those skills?
We come under the umbrella of The Third Age Trust, a national self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment. Although each local U3A operates in its own way, all branches use the knowledge, skills and experience of their own members to set up and run special interest groups. We currently have groups covering a wide range of interests, as well as opportunities for social activities, such as lunches and theatre trips. Members are welcome to join as many groups as they like, subject to space, and those with particular interests, experience or knowledge may decide to set up and coordinate new groups. No one needs a qualification to coordinate a group, just the enthusiasm to get things going. To learn more about our groups, press the Groups button above.
New Members are always welcome; it’s a brilliant way to make new friends and enjoy a stimulating and sociable retirement.
We hold our twice-monthly general meetings at the United Reformed Church, 114 Hanworth Road, Hounslow; it is just behind the Treaty Centre and is well placed for public transport.
