Book Lovers
We are a lively, friendly group with approximately 12 members. At present we are full but you may leave your details to go on a waiting list.
We are enjoying being able to meet in person again at the Library.
We use sets of books provided by Newbury Library. This year we bought a set of books to contribute towards their stock. Some members read on Kindle.
We start the discussion by each member scoring the book out of 10. (If you didn't finish the book it gets a "0", and if you only finish it for the book club discussion, a"1". 10 is the best book you've ever read!). It is not unknown for a book to score from 0 to 9! E.g. "Netherland" by Joseph O'Neill! And nobody's view is the right one!
Then a brief review around the table leads on to a lively and more in-depth discussion.
Most of us go across the car park to the Teashop by the Canal for a cuppa afterwards.
- When: 1st Thursday in the month at 2.00pm
- Where: Carnegie Room, upstairs at Newbury Library (there is a lift!)
The group is full, however, new Members are more than welcome, but they would have to obtain the books themselves as book group sets from the library number only 10.
