Are you free from full time work and family responsibilities? Would you like to spend time with other people who want to LEARN, LAUGH AND LIVE! and keep your brain cells active? Then come along and give us a try. We do not employ tutors or teachers; we learn from and with each other. We cover a variety of subjects but if you can't find what you are interested in we will try to find like minded people to share it with.

Stevenage u3a extends a warm welcome to:

Those who enjoy learning or want to continue to learn something new or even share their knowledge with others or would like to form new friendships with like-minded people - maybe all three. Anyone is welcome to attend a Thursday Open afternoon session (during term time) to "try us out" before joining, please make contact through this site using the Contact page.

What does it cost?
Our current annual subscription is £10. You must become a member to join ANY of our groups.
If you are interested please contact the membership secretary on the yellow button on the Contact page.

The fee for the Thursday Open Meeting is £2 (either member or visitor), which includes tea or coffee and biscuits. Study/Special Interest Groups may incur a charge, especially if room hire is required.

Background

The University of the Third Age (u3a) is an international organisation which caters for those men and women who are not in full-time employment. There are no entry requirements, no examinations, and no qualifications are awarded. Stevenage u3a was amongst the first to be set up.

There are over 1000 u3as, with more than 400,000 members in the United Kingdom, each u3a being independent and having its own constitution. All u3as are self-financing. However, there are regional and national umbrella organisations, to assist in maintaining the common purpose of continuing education.
