Linking with Belarus
1st Thursdays, 14.00, Members' Homes
We have two fluent Russian speakers and others with partial knowledge of the language, and some who have travelled in Belarus, or other parts of the Former Soviet Union. All of us are interested to learn about this large country in the heart of Europe, of which we hear so little. We have forged a link with our counterparts in Grodno, who are members of the Belarus University of the Golden Age. We have sent emails containing information about ourselves and U3A in general, and we, in turn, have learned a little about the Golden Age members and courses. They are a developing organisation with only three active groups in Belarus. Later in the year we hope to set up a regular Skype link with their English class. You can watch the video which our convenors made to be played at their recent graduation ceremony (no exams, just a certificate to say that they attended) go to http://youtu.be/BPCcI-RW8FA. We don’t expect to win any film awards!
