Gardening

Group Leader: Rita Bennett

The Gardening Group's aim was to meet with like-minded people who enjoyed gardening and wished to gain confidence to explore new ideas through sharing practical gardening tips. An annual membership fee of £10 was agreed to pay for room hire, speakers, administration etc. To date 37 members have joined the Gardening Group. A committee of Rita Bennett (Co-ordinator), Pam Greatrex (Assistant Co-ordinator/Treasurer) and Chris Morby (Secretary) ensures these activities are sustained. The Group meets regularly, at least once a month, to visit gardens, attend demonstrations and to engage guest speakers to broaden gardening knowledge on a variety of related subjects. Visits included Notcutts Garden Centre, Halfpenny Green Vineyard Tour, Packwood House to meet the gardener, Arley Arboretum, Trentham Gardens, Wisley Flower Show and private gardens in Solihull, Marlbrook and Wythall. Fortunately the sun shone on each occasion.
