Horsham

Welcome to Horsham U3A West Sussex

Horsham u3a was formed in 1994 and is Charity No. 1054606, registered in England and Wales. The objective stated in the Constitution is:
The advancement of education, and in particular the education of older people and those retired from full time work, by all means including associated activities conducive to learning and personal development, in Horsham and the surrounding district.
What does joining a u3a offer?
• The opportunity to pursue learning for sheer enjoyment and for its own sake
• Shared learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups
• New friendships

We have around 700 members in Horsham u3a and there are more than 60 interest groups covering some 40 subjects, including arts & crafts, board games, books, card games, languages, music, science & technology and sports. This list is not exhaustive so click on the Groups tab above for a full programme.

Only members of Horsham u3a can join interest groups which meet mainly monthly either in members’ homes or in rented premises. There is no charge to join any group but if the group meets in rented premises, a contribution towards the rent is collected from the members at each meeting. In addition to the regular interest group meetings, general meetings are usually held at the Holbrook Club, North Heath Lane, in alternate months from January to November. Members have free admission to these meetings where we invariably have a speaker regaling us with tales of their interests and experiences.

You can keep in touch with what’s happening in Horsham u3a via this website and once you are a member you will receive a quarterly newsletter either by email or by post.

"By the members, for the members" is the u3a movement's mantra. The u3a is not a service charity where a very few members provide administration, support and a programme of events for a sizeable number of others. Becoming a member of a u3a means that you are prepared to be involved in contributing to the life of the u3a, so please think about what you have to offer Horsham u3a when joining.

If you would like to join, either click on 'Membership Application' to the right of this text to download and print a form, or send an email to the Membership Secretary, using the Contact tab above.

Have you completed a Gift Aid Declaration in favour of Horsham u3a? The Government rules make it easy to give to Charities and for them to reclaim tax on donations and this makes a valuable contribution to our funds at no extra cost to you. The main condition is that the donor must be a UK tax payer, so if you have not completed a Gift Aid Declaration and are eligible, please contact the Membership Secretary using the Contact tab above, or print off the form using the link on this page.
