Our U3A was founded in 2012 and, like our parent-organisation, we are growing fast. Like all the 997 U3As (at time of writing and still growing fast) in the UK, Leigh Estuary is a self-resourced organisation where retired (and semi-retired) people can join together to enjoy the pursuit of a shared interest. Most of our groups meet at least monthly, mostly in Leigh Community Centre but some are held in members' homes. We also have a number of groups that arrange outings to variety of destinations, such as theatres, gardens and other places of interest. We hold regular ‘New Member’ meetings - please click if you would like to find out how to join us.
We are always amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm and expertise that we have within our membership and are pleased when our members come forward with ideas for a new topic. Some of our groups are full and but we may be able to help you to start a duplicate (or triplicate) group.
We hold a monthly meeting at Leigh Community Centre for all our members, where we are entertained, usually by a guest speaker. This is also an opportunity to have tea, biscuits and socialise afterwards. If you have any questions please contact us by email or phone and join the 366,000+ UK members presently enjoying life-enhancing opportunities with U3A. We prefer to work using email but we try to be flexible (and we have a Computer, Tablet and iPad group if you want to learn how to handle all that stuff).
We hope to hear from you soon.
Leigh Estuary U3A is a registered charity (Registered Charity Number 1151522).
