There are over 1,000 u3a organisations in the UK. Each u3a is an independent organisation, run by a committee of volunteers. U3as are vibrant communities open to all individuals no longer in full-time employment. We provide you with opportunities to stay active, connect with like-minded individuals, and continue to nurture and expand your knowledge and skills. Our focus is on the joy of learning, not for qualifications but for the sheer pleasure it brings.

East Grinstead u3a has been thriving since 1995. We just achieved the magical 700 members as of 28th January 2024, with more applications in the pipeline. With some 50 diverse groups, we cater to various interests (see the Groups button above). Situated in the picturesque High Weald, just a stone's throw north of Ashdown Forest, East Grinstead lies on the border of West Sussex, Surrey, East Sussex, and Kent, drawing its membership from all four counties. Are you new to the area, new to retirement, or have changed circumstances? All groups provide a chance to make new friends. For example, the monthly Hub meeting and coffee clubs are social gatherings.

• Whether you enjoy walking, gardening, delving into science or engineering technology, or unravelling history, we invite you to join us. Fancy learning a new language or refining your conversational skills? Perhaps you'd like to dive into one of our four Book Groups.

• For those inclined towards choral singing or adventurous outings, or if you're passionate about crafting short stories, painting, or poetry, we have something for everyone. Engage in practical groups like Craft, Quilt making, and other fabric techniques, or contribute to environmental well-being by joining our efforts to combat global climate change.

• Then there are the groups like Chess, Mahjong and Bridge, where you can fine-tune those brain cells.
