WHO ARE WE?
We are Exeter U3A. An organisation which welcomes people, usually over the age of fifty and retired from full time employment, to join together to learn from each other and to enjoy social activities that are of common interest. We manage our U3A through our EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. Here you can read more about the ETHOS and PRINCIPLES of the U3A. To read messages from your committee click Committee news and Information
WHAT WE DO - and The Groups That Run Currently.
To view a list of current groups click 'Groups' at the top of this page or click Groups here..
We form interest groups, which are led by members with relevant knowledge, experience or simply interest in the subject. There are also social activities such as walking groups, lunch clubs and Bridge groups. We also produce a Bimonthly NEWSLETTER.
EXETER UNIVERSITY LIAISON PROJECT
We have a project team who are developing links with Exeter University. The University provides lectures for us and we get invited to take part in research projects. See Exeter University Liaison.
WHAT IT COSTS
There is an annual subscription per member. New members registering from April 1st 2015 for the period up until 31st March 2016 will pay £20. If you join a group that meets in a room that incurs a hire fee then you will be asked to pay £1 per month per group towards the cost of that fee (In arrears quarterly).
Those current members renewing their membership can get a discount if they pay before March 31st 2015.
See the link entitled "proposed fees" on the Hot News page.
The subscription covers such things as running expenses, booking of rooms, the monthly speakers fee and a contribution to the Third Age Trust (who offer resources to the groups). Group members are expected to fund consumables.
WHERE WE MEET
Our Monthly Meeting is held at THE MINT METHODIST CHURCH, Fore Street, Exeter. The various Interest Groups meet in member's homes, at Exeter College or the Baptist Church's site at Palace Gate. Additional venues are notified in the current newsletter.
